Frequently Asked Questions
How is the beta app different from the regular app?
The beta app is unreleased software and as such has features that are being developed for eventual inclusion in the regular app. The beta app will have more bugs than the regular app. It’s possible (though unlikely) that the bugs may cause data loss. The beta app is distributed via Apple’s TestFlight app rather than the App Store.
What should I do when I find a bug?
Let us know! Open the TestFlight app, tap CxAlloy TQ, and then tap Send Feedback. Alternatively, you can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
When reporting bugs, we always want to know the following:
- What did you try to do?
- What steps did you take to do that?
- What did you expect to happen?
- What happened instead?
Don’t assume we know anything! Simply stating that something “doesn’t work” isn’t very helpful for us to understand the problem. Spell it out for us as simply and clearly as possible.
If you believe that a screenshot would help, please include it. Learn how to take a screenshot.
What if I just have a suggestion?
Not all issues are as clear-cut as an application crash or hang. (But we definitely want to know about those, too!) As you use the application, anything that strikes you as unusual, unexpected, or broken is probably worth telling us about.
Report everything you find. An issue might be glaringly obvious to you, but if you don’t report it, we may not even know about it.
How do I take a screenshot?
While holding down the Sleep/Wake button, press the Home button. The screen will flash white, letting you know that a screenshot was taken. The screenshot will be in your camera roll.
How do I find out what version of iOS I am running?
In the Settings app, tap General, then About. The iOS version is listed as Version.
Where do I get the beta app?
The beta app is distributed via Apple’s TestFlight app rather than the App Store. TestFlight is an app that you download from the App Store. You will install the CxAlloy TQ beta app (and future updates) via TestFlight. Once you have been accepted into the beta, you will receive an email from TestFlight with detailed instructions.
If I have the regular app already, what happens when I install the beta app?
When you install the beta app, it replaces the regular app on your device, keeping your downloaded data intact. You can differentiate the beta app from the regular app by looking for an orange dot next to the app’s name.
How long is the beta?
The beta is ongoing and does not have an end date. However, you can leave the beta at any time.
How do I leave the beta?
If you have installed the CxAlloy TQ beta app, you can download the regular app again from the App Store. This will replace the beta app, and the orange dot by the app name will be removed.
You may also want to open TestFlight, tap CxAlloy TQ, and then tap Unsubscribe to turn off notifications of beta app updates.
Does my app data get erased when I join or leave the beta?
No, as long as you do not delete the current version app from your device, your downloaded data is preserved when you join or leave the beta.
To ensure that your data is properly retained, simply install the beta version over the regular app or vice versa.
Do not delete the app you have installed if you want to retain your data.
How do I get updates?
The TestFlight app will send a push notification when an update to the beta app is available. Since updates often contain important bug fixes, we recommend you keep the app up-to-date.
How often will the beta be updated?
Updates are usually released every one to two weeks. A new beta will be released at least every 30 days.
